Food Insecurity Resources
- Due to the October government shutdown, 41 million Americans had their SNAP benefits threatened and qualifications were changed. Governor Youngkin had set up VENA (VA Emergency Nutrition Assistance) to get Virginia residents alternative benefits using state funding. Since the government has reopened, SNAP benefits are reinstituted – however, qualifications have changed, some people need to re-submit their applications, and we do not know what the future looks like.
